Family Winter Weekend

Let us lure you from the depths of your winter caves with creativity… come with your family to reconnect with all manner of art and reinvigorate your homeschool year. Our 65 acre farm is a relaxed and comfortable environment in which to meet other homeschooling families, be inspired, and share your wisdom with new friends. Play with the winter wind, Explore nature in winter, ramble with your children, laugh, learn and share… Bring the whole family!!!! We are Waldorf inspired while incorporating other complementary philosophies.

Barbara S. Dewey
Barbara Dewey: Barbara, of Waldorf Without Walls, publishes a quarterly newsletter, writes publications, provides training workshops, and spends her spare time with family and friends, enjoying the unique solar home she built, and developing her farmland. She is the mother of four and grandmother to six. Barbara holds an M.S. in Waldorf Education from the Waldorf Institute of Sunbridge College in Spring Valley, N.Y. She has been teaching for 46 years.
John Quimby
John Quimby, M.S. has degrees in Entomology and Forestry from the University of Michigan. He was the State Forest Entomologist and Chief of the Forest Health Program of Pennsylvania for 30 years, and a Forester for the U.S. Forest Service in Alaska, Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado, and South Dakota for five years before that.
Since retiring from forest entomology in 1999 'Quimby' (as he is called), has been devoting his time to cabinet making, planting trees, social action, and environmental education for youngsters. He has worked part time/full time for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and was named "Environmental Educator of the Year" by that organization in 2007. The past two summers have been spent guiding canoe trips for youngsters in the Adirondacks of upstate New York State. In that capacity he has run workshops on wildflower identification, tree identification, and other environmental education themes, as well as taken youth out into the wilderness for a week at a time.
Karen Whitescarver
Karen grew up in New York State but considers herself from many places with many interests. Exploring the sciences through 4-H, college, and in life has helped her gain a new perspective about the world. She enjoys singing, games, photography, reading, science, cooking, fiber arts, and time with her family. She is currently a full time staff member at the Highland School, a democratic boarding and day school in rural West Virginia. She is married to John Whitescarver and they have a son, Travis, age twelve, who may also be at the weekend.

Space is limited to 25, so get your family registered today!
Tuition includes all meals, afternoon snacks, and accommodations. If cancellations are made more than a week before the session, all tuition will be refunded, minus a $50 processing fee. After that, no refunds are possible, because all supplies and food will have been purchased and there is no chance of filling your space. You will be sent a confirmation packet with more details.
